ResTech Plastic Molding LLC recently completed the merger of its two Connecticut facilities into one location in Berlin, Conn. The new combination will operate under the Northeast Mold and Plastics LLC name.

ResTech, which also has operations and its headquarters in Hudson, Mass., acquired Northeast Mold & Plastics of Glastonbury, Conn., in February and combined its operations with Tech Atlantic, of Berlin, which it had purchased in April 2013.

“The merger  is expected to accomplish three objectives: strengthen our design, engineering and technology synergies, advance the performance of material sciences to deliver a wider range of plastic material solutions for a multitude of product applications, and increase production space and gain capacity,” said ResTech CEO George Danis, in a news release.

The company said in an email that it had conducted a review of the companies to identify synergies and operational efficiencies. It then formed integration teams with managers charged with the implementation of the plans over a five month period. It also said that its methodology has allowed it to realize twice the savings it had anticipated and that they have able to realize the savings a year ahead of schedule.

With the advance planning, the company said that it was able to upgrade a 68,000-square-foot facility in Berlin. It did a re-mapping of the floor plan to allow for 33 injection molding presses ranging from 24 to 500 tons of clamping force. The press lineup includes four 2-shot, 2-color machines. The company also upgraded its HVAC system to meet ISO 9001-2008 standards and expanded environmental controls throughout the manufacturing area.

ResTech also remodeled the offices, expanded warehouse space and implemented a new IT server to increase its network.

The company said all of its employees made the move, which was made without interruptions to its customers.

Ron Bodeau is the general manager of the Connecticut operations.
